Terms of sale
Please read these terms before you send an order. They explain how an order becomes a contract and what each of us can expect.
Last updated 26 October 2026
1. How ordering works
When you send your basket through our checkout, you're sending an order request. It isn't a contract yet and no payment is taken.
We reply with a delivery quote for your address. A contract is formed only when you accept that quote and your payment goes through, and we confirm the order by email.
We may decline an order request, for example if we can't deliver to your address or an item is unavailable. If we do, there's nothing to pay.
2. Prices
Products cost the amount shown on the site at the time you send your request: per length of timber, or per 20kg bag of post mix. Delivery is quoted separately for each order.
If a price on the site is clearly wrong, we'll tell you before you accept your quote.
3. Payment
Payment is taken once you accept your quote, using the method set out in our email. We never ask for card details by email or phone.
4. Delivery
We agree a delivery day with you when your order is confirmed. That's a day, not a time slot.
Timber is unloaded at the kerb or the nearest point a vehicle can safely reach. It isn't carried through houses, down side passages or into back gardens. Please give accurate access details; if we can't deliver because of something we weren't told, we'll talk to you about another option and explain any extra cost first.
Risk passes to you on delivery. The goods belong to you once they're delivered and paid for.
5. About timber
Sizes are nominal and pieces may vary slightly. Grain, knots, colour, resin and small surface splits vary from piece to piece and are normal for timber. Treated timber can look green or patchy at first.
The drawings on product pages show shape and proportions, and photos on the site are illustrations.
6. Checking your delivery
Count and inspect your timber when it's delivered. If something is short, broken or not what you ordered, send us photos that day.
7. Cancelling and returns (consumers)
If you're a consumer, you may cancel at any time before delivery, and you have 14 days from the day of delivery to tell us you want to return goods, without giving a reason.
Items you return must be unused, uncut and unfixed, and fit to be resold. You're responsible for the cost of sending them back unless they're faulty or not what you ordered. Our returns set out the steps.
If returned goods have been used or damaged in a way that goes beyond checking them, we may reduce the refund to reflect their lower value.
8. Buying for a business
If you're buying for a business, the consumer cancellation rights above don't apply, but please contact us and we'll help where we reasonably can.
9. Faulty or incorrect goods
If something is faulty, damaged in transit or not as described, we'll replace it or refund you. This doesn't affect your statutory rights.
10. Our responsibility
Where we fall short of these terms or don't take reasonable care, we cover loss or damage to you that could reasonably have been expected at the time. How timber is stored, used or put up after delivery is outside our control.
Nothing here limits our liability where the law says it can't be limited. Business customers: we don't accept liability for lost profits, lost business or indirect losses.
11. Disputes
Please contact us first so we can try to put things right. These terms are under English law. Disputes can go to the courts of England and Wales, and consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may use their own local courts.
