Answers
The timber
What wood is it?
Pressure-treated softwood, the standard material for garden fences, rails, posts and sleepers in the UK.
Why does new timber look green or patchy?
That's the treatment. It weathers to a softer honey or grey colour over the following months.
Are sizes exact?
Timber is sold by nominal sizes, so a 100 x 75mm post can measure a few millimetres under. Lengths are cut slightly over in most cases.
Can I paint or stain it?
Yes, once it has dried out. A water-based fence stain is the easiest to apply.
Ordering
Do I need an account?
No. Add items to the basket and enter your details at checkout.
Is there a minimum order?
There's no minimum on the site at the moment. Small orders still need a delivery quote, which can be a large share of the total.
When do I pay?
After we've sent you a delivery price and you've accepted it. Sending your order doesn't take a payment.
Can I change my order after sending it?
Yes. Reply to our email or contact us with your reference and what you'd like to change.
Delivery
How much is delivery?
It depends on your postcode and order. We price it for each order and send it to you. Read how delivery works.
Will it fit through my house?
Timber is left at the roadside or the closest point a vehicle can reach, not carried through houses or into back gardens.
Returns
Can I send back what I don't use?
Unused, uncut pieces in resaleable condition can be returned. Our returns explain how.
