How the fence calculator counts
| Part | Rule |
|---|---|
| Posts | One each end of every 1.8m bay; long enough for about 600mm in the ground |
| Gate posts | Two 6x6 posts per gate, with about 1m of fence left out for each gate |
| Rails | 3.6m lengths; two rows up to 1.2m high, three rows above; 100 x 50mm from 2.1m |
| Boards | 150mm boards fixed edge to edge |
| Post mix | 1 bag for each 3x3 or 4x3 post; 2 for each 4x4 or gate post |
Worth adding yourself
- An extra post at every corner or change of direction.
- Longer posts where the fence steps down a slope.
- Spare boards for cuts and any that split when nailed.
- The gate itself: we sell the posts and timber, not ready-made gates.
